DOROTHY PIERCE
(1926-2014)

Mrs. Dorothy Marie Bloomfield Pierce, age 88, of Bill Chain Road in Garrison, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening, June 25, 2014, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

She was born June 17, 1926, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Johnny and Sarah Butler Bloomfield.

Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the Garrison Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed making quilts, singing, listening to gospel music, walking, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Ira Pierce; two sons, Locker Pierce and Orville Richard Pierce; one grandson, Dean Everett Pierce; one great grandson, Levi Peterman; three brothers, George Bloomfield, Edgar Bloomfield, and Tommy Bloomfield; and two sisters, Flossie Bloomfield and Weaver McClurg.

Dorothy is survived by four sons, Clyde Pierce of Garrison, Kentucky, Jackie Pierce of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Chester Pierce of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Moddy Pierce of Garrison, Kentucky; three daughters and a son-in-law, Ronda Pierce of Garrison, Kentucky, Adena and Don Henry of Maysville, Kentucky, and Judy Cress of Bucyrus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 21 great, great grandchildren; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lily and Estil Cooley of Garrison, Kentucky, Bertha Ruark Reynolds of Ohio, and Lona Burton of Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison, Kentucky, with Brother Tim Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Pierce Family Cemetery in Garrison, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue, Garrison, Kentucky 41141.

Dorothy's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
