She was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Edward A. and Esther A. (Wickard) Hays.
Marian graduated from Carlisle High School in 1959 and had worked for several companies in the Carlisle area.
She worked for the Appalachian Motor Inn, the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot, and the Starlight Motel and Lounge.
Marian was always a local auto racing fan, and enjoyed the former Silver Spring Race Track and eventually NASCAR.
She is survived by two sons; Ronald C. Brownawell, II and his wife, Doreen and Scott E. Brownawell and one daughter, Wendy L. Speck and her husband, Richard, all of Shermans Dale, three brothers; Edward, Robert, and Randy Hays, all of Carlisle, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Marian was predeceased by two sisters; Marlene Kruger and Marguerite Righter and one grandson, Jonathan Brownawell.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle.
Burial will be in the Grier’s Point Cemetery, Rye Twp., Perry County.
