Bernice Gale Briggs Babcock Sprague was born as an only child to Julia (Gale) Briggs (Hamburg, NY) and Clarence Briggs (North Collins, NY) in 1912. She was a Quaker, and a girl scout and honor student in North Collins. She married Charles A. Babcock (South Dayton, NY) in 1933, and they had one son, Bruce E. Babcock in 1943. A few years following Charles' (d. 1961) death at age 50, Bernice married Emmett E. Sprague (d. 2009), originally of Jamestown and Levant, NY. Bernice was a member of the Collins Friends (Quaker) Church, and lived in Collins, NY from 1933 until the time of her death. Surviving her are her son, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
