Isaac Spencer Ellis and his wife Lenore along with their family lived with his parents John and Malinda Ellis for a time as did many other relatives. Lenore's health was not good and Isaac decided they should move on. He rode west to Boonville, Missouri to get a permit to secure land farther west.
Sometime in about 1872 while Isaac and Norah were living in Texas he died at Collin, McKinney county, Texas. Lenore returned to Missouri where her family lived. She died less than a year later, they said of a "broken heart".
