Odos Thompson of Denton-Phelps Road, Somerset, Kentucky died at his residence after a long illness. He was 77 years old.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II (served in France and Germany as an ammunition handler). He received the Expert Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, European American Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, Distinguished Service Badge, and Bronze Arrowhead.

He was a retired farmer and member of Seven Oaks Baptist Church.

He was survived by his sons, Windle Thompson of Somerset, Kentucky and Odis D.C. Thompson of Noblesville, Indiana; his daughters, Beulah Goodin of Somerset, Kentucky and Hattie Owens of Somerset, Kentucky; his sisters, Rinda Loveless of Somerset, Kentucky and Marie Chew of Middletown, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Thompson and Sarah (Hardwick) Thompson his wife, Fay (Merritt) Thompson (married October 10, 1945 in Pulaski County, Kentucky); his son, Freddie Thompson; his daughters, Wanda Thompson and Ollie Deann Thompson; his brothers, Everett Thompson, Roscoe Thompson, Luther Thompson, and Rex Thompson; and his sisters, Grace Dick and Stella Mofield.

Funeral services were held at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Reverend David Carr, Reverend Wayne Rose, and Reverend David Tomlison officiating.

Burial was in the Merritt Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post No. 38.
