Mary Ann married William Roy Mulanax on December 13, 1855 in Andrew County, Missouri. She was 13 years old, and he was 22 years old (9 years her senior). When she was 18 years old, in the 1860 Federal Census, the family was living in Vienna, Pottawatomie County, Kansas, and had two children (Matthew and Eliza) by that time.
The family continued to live in the northeast Kansas area (Doniphan and Jackson counties, specifically) for the remainder of their lives, and their final home was in Avoca, Kansas (near Holton). They were the parents of 11 children in total (3 boys and 8 girls) between 1858 and 1880.
Mary Ann's husband, William, died in May 1901 after suffering complications from a broken leg falling from a wagon. She died at the age of 63 years, just a few years later, on Christmas Day in 1905 (cause unknown), and was buried with her husband in Olive Hill Cemetery in Soldier, Kansas (near Holton, Kansas). No headstone was located in the cemetery when I walked it on June 22, 2015. There was no entry for her death found in the Jackson County, Kansas Cemetery Book, but there was a newspaper obituary and burial notice published (recorded below).
Her obituary did not mention her mother Ruth Ledington (# 197301961) in Illinois or two half-sisters (Viletta/ Violetta Ledington Jaynes (# 51616203) in Oregon/Idaho and Melvina Ledington Hixson (#13210848) in Illinois as her survivors. Another half-sister was Sarah E. Ledington.
"Mary Ann Kincade Mullenax was born in the state of Ohio, March 10, 1833 [1839 would agree with age at death below ] and died at Avoca, Kans., December 25, 1905, aged 66 years, 9 months and 15 days. Her husband died about five years ago. She was the mother of 10 children, 3 sons and seven daughters, one girl having preceded her to the world beyond. She accepted the message of Christ in her younger days and was a faithful Christian until death. She was a sufferer at the hand of affliction for the last two years and death came to her as a relief. The funeral took place from Olive Hill church December 25 at 4 o'clock in the evening. May those that mourn find comfort in looking to Christ.

I am Mary Ann's great-great granddaughter (MarGene) (Contributor #47514829) who is descended from her daughter, Eliza Jane Mulanax Coleman. Another great-granddaughter is Ardath, who is descended from her daughter, Lucy Adeline Mulanax Hager. For many years, and the last few together, we have been researching the name of Mary Ann's parents. In early March 2019, using DNA a very distant cousin in the Smith family contacted us re: Mary Ann's relationship with this Smith family, and Ruth Smith Kincaid in particular. We now have traced and determined that Ruth Smith Kincaid (daughter of Jacob and Suzanna/Susan Campbell Smith) is Mary Ann's mother. We are currently (March 21, 2019) researching the name of her father.
