Dorthe Sorenson is the daughter of Jens Sorenson and Ann Kirstine Jenson.
She had eight siblings: Jens Peter (died as an infant), Jens Peter, Soren Christian, Mette Margrethe, Lars, Christian Julius, Ane Catherine, and Christiane. Dorthea emmigrated to the United States in the 1860s.
Dorthe married Thomas Billington Nelson on 22 June 1867. They had nine children. Dorthe was the second wife of Thomas, as he was a Mormon practicing poligamy.

Dorthe and Thomas lived in Bloomington, Bear Lake, Idaho, where they raised their family. They had nine children: Orson Billington, Annie Martha, Laura Alvira, Rhoda Caroline, Nancy Catherine, Dorthe Rosety, George Alma, Mary Almeda, and Alice Leavirn. Dorthe and Thomas later moved to Thatcher, Graham, Arizona.
Dorthe and Thomas settled and lived their lives out in Arizona.
