FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. HETTIE STRAUGHN
Funeral rites for Mrs. Hettie Straughn were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:00 from the Church of Christ with Wilson Wallace, Church of Christ minister, officiating.
Mrs. Straughn died Tuesday, November 27, following an illness of 14 years.
She was born March 24, 1886 at Groveton, Texas and moved to Love County 68 years ago, where she had continued to live.
She was married to Manie Straughn, an early day farmer-rancher, who later moved to Marietta and operated a grocery store at the northwest city limits of Marietta. He was also owner of the Chevrolet agency and garage here for years.
Mr. Straughn preceded her in death in 1938 and a daughter, Hazel, died in 1934.
Mrs. Straughn had been a member of the Church of Christ for many years and was actively engaged in the work of her church as long as her health permitted.
Surviving her are a son, B. O. Straughn of Marietta; four sisters, Mrs. Della Bigham and Mrs. Ida Jenkins of Marietta and Mrs. Inez Bigham and Mrs. Myrtle Shields of Ardmore and two brothers, Charlie Smith of Marietta and Bryant Smith of Oklahoma City.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of the Goodrich Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Prichard, Leslie Jones, Leroy Northcutt, Mike Rhoades, Lester Embry and Vernie Smith.
