Archie Logan Bathe, 77, of Sullivan passed away 6:20 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care, Mattoon.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2015 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in French Cemetery, Allenville with Military Rites by the Sullivan American Legion Post # 68. Memorials may be made to the Allenville Christian Church, Mason Point or to the donor's choice.

Archie was born January 30, 1937 in Sullivan, the son of Berthol D. and Myrtie L. (Burtcheard) Bathe. Archie served two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Brown Shoe Company, Sullivan for many years, was a computer instructor at Lake Land College, he was owner of Prairie Land Publishing Company, Allenville and published a monthly horse magazine. He loved and trained horses as a hobby. He was a talented musician, played the organ for many, many funerals, and was an accomplished pianist. He sang on the WLBH radio station many Sunday mornings with "The Jubilaires Quartet". Archie was an artist in many respects. He had a cosmetologist license for several years, and he enjoyed working on his sister's hair. He loved to cook fancy meals. Archie was a member of the Allenville Christian Church. He also enjoyed attending services at the Mason Point Chapel during his 14 months he was a patient there. He was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sisters, Audrey (Bill) England of Allenville, Mayme (John) Knox of Sullivan, Barbara (Orval) Clayton of Sullivan, Joan (Don) Bishop of Youngstown, FL; long-time companion, Matthew Simpson of Allenville; special friends, Gene Reed of Allenville and Roger Denham of Windsor; uncle, Garrett Burtcheard; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ronnie and David; and niece, Tracy Bishop.
