When about 20 years old he came west and settled in Huntsville, Mo., and there taught several terms of school. He was married to Miss Margaret Baker Oct. 20, 1842, and to this union was born one son. He afterward married her sister, Miss Lottie Baker, Sept. 1, 1847. To this union were born six children, one boy and five girls: Mrs. Maggie Davis, Como, Colo., Mrs. Mary F. McMillan, Neponset, Ill., Mrs. Addie Owen, Macon County, Mo., Mrs. Allie Newby, San Diego, Cal., Mrs. Tom* Chinn, Weiser, Idaho, and James T. Ralston, Wheeling, Mo. All survive their father, except one, Mrs. Mary McMillan of Illinois.
About the year 1846 he went to California and was there about one year, the came back to Missouri and settled near Bloomington in the year 1854 and was engaged in farming until the beginning of the Civil War, at which time he enlisted as a First Lieutenant in the Union army and served four years. After the war he moved with his family to Callao, Mo., and engaged in the Woolen mill business for a number of years.
In the year 1898 he and his wife made their home with their daughter, Mrs. Dr. T. F. Owen in Hudson township, until his death. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery.

*Isaac's daughter Lou married George Chinn not Tom Chinn, even though the obit says Tom. It should read Mrs. George Chinn. George and Lou are buried together in Idaho #59468984 & #59468986.
They are together with their family in Weiser, Idaho in the 1910 census.
