Zelma Dell Brown Edwards, 96, left this world July 30, 2004.

She was born Dec. 2, 1907, in Mound City, and resided there until moving to St. Joseph in 1972. She was a graduate of Mound City high School and a member of the Christian Church, later transferring to Wesley United Methodist. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star, and Rebekah Lodge.

Along with her husband Don, Zelma was co-owner of a farm, feed dealership and trucking business; being the first female driver in northwest Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert S. and anna Eliza Wicker Brown; husband, Don; twin brother, Delbert Dale; brothers, Claude, Theodore, Robert, Walter and Maurice; sisters, Leola, Mary, Florence; granddaughter, Marcia Elaine and great-grandson, Timothy.

Her surviving family are son, Carroll L. and his wife, Phyllis of Hannibal; daughter, Barbara A. and husband, Malcomb D. Barnes of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Michael lee, Mary Anne, Mark Allen and Donna Carol, Lisa Ann and Clint Dee; great-grandchildren, Gregory Dale and Shana Marie, Rhiannon Nicole, Regina, Jennie, Bobbie Jo, Rikki, Jeremy, Nathan, Daniel, Christina, Hope, Brittany and Gabrielle; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Doris Brown.

Private graveside services and interment were held Sunday, Aug. 1, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, under the direction of Pettijohn & Crawford Family Funeral Service, Mound City, Mo. The Rev. John G. Middleton of Hope United Church of Christ officiated.
