This letter/poem I have transcribed from Aunt Flora to my parents says all one can say about her, she was one of the kindest and sweetest people I have ever met. Juliane

A letter in Poetry for Jewell and Monty
A heart of love now is given you;
And you're just the girl that will be true
You'll whoop and yell and fun there'll be, and a jolly place there; - we'll sure see.
For you're the girl with much vim.
you'll dash about, keep a home neat and trim,
For by so doing, you'll show your love true;
There's sure a work both lovers must do.
Life at its best will demand of you two
A million things for one to do.
For it comes to me in the straightest way
That one twill be; and tis June you say
that love already demands full survey
Bringing closer, the wedding day.
we hope for both the proper start.
Which lays foundations,. To never part.
Tis hard to realize, we are hard to show, That selfishness, is our enemy here below.
That greed won't work, that its not the "dough" that really gives comfort the farther we go. Nor is it beauty that goes so far, nor always to ride in a fine car.
But the deep rich worth of a soul, my dears, and a deep lasting love ( for both) with no fears.
For the winds blow bleak, and the winds blow cold
And trouble and worry and sorrows are bold, and waves roll high and waters get deep, and the ways are rough and the mountains steep. Our minds grow weary and our bodies tire, then we need the most; a power higher, for to live together, as humans as we are, tis the safest trust; I tell you by far. For a house not built on a rock you know, can never withstand the the storms that blow. Then watch with care, in wrongs go slow, and both, back up' for they lead to woe "The right is always the place to stand" All other ways are as sinking sand.
And to trust in ourselves, we'll surely fail, but with Gods help-straight forward sail.
Please Monty and Jewell be wide awake, these rules, and good advice, always take;
be sure its good and true; for future sake.
For its hard to see how far influence goes and influence of two, could make woes.
Or the two as one, may reach far and wide, Their lives being good, no evil could hide.
And you know I'm wishing for you the best in life, when Monty's the husband and Jewell the wife,And in your home may there always be, love thoughtfulness, care, peace, and harmony.
and comforts necessary in every line, for it takes much to make a home fine.
Well you tell me your needs- something useful- don't evade, So between now and June- I can sure have it made.
