Bauer, John Orville, son of Jacob S. and Elizabeth (Cristophel) Bauer, was born at Elkhart, Ind., Jan. 18, 1893; died of a heart attack at Harper District Hospital, Sept. 2, 1979; aged 86 y. On Nov. 1, 1914, he was married to Maggie May Bickel, who died on Oct. 6, 1967. Surviving are one son (Merle), 3 daughters (Marie Sipult, Verna Jacobs, and Dorothy Kauffman), 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters (Martha Zielke and Florence Cox). Two infant sons preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, Sept. 4, in charge of Elmer Wyse; interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
