THE LIMA NEWS, LIMA, OHIO, Wednesday, March 2, 1949

CRIDERSVILLE, Mar 2.The body of PFC Lloyd L South, 30 of this community will arrive here at 12:10 P M Friday and be removed to Bayliff Funeral Home. Final rites will be conducted at 2:20 P M Sunday in the funeral home with the Rev Lee Burtchin, Hume, officiating. Burial will be made in St Matthew's Cemetery.

Frederick Delong American Legion Post No 647, of Cridersville, will conduct military services and act as pallbearers.

PFC South, born Sept 30, 1914 in Cridersville, entered the Army in 1943. He participated in the North African and Italian invasions and was captured by Germans at Bologna, Italy, Oct 13, 1944. South was declared dead Dec 14, 1944 and later his grave was found in a German prison camp cemetery.

A member of Co F, Second Btn, 337 Infantry, PFC South was married in 1943 to Mary Hoffman, who survives.

In addition to his widow, survivors include his mother, Mrs Emma South, Cridersville; two brothers, Edgar, 1609 N Union St-Lima and James of this community; three sisters, Mrs Dean Lee, Spencerville; Mrs John Eley and Miss Mildred South, both of Cridersville; a maternal grandmother, Mrs Orria Winget, Big Rapids, Mich. His father, Arthur l South died in 1936.

The body will remain in the funeral home until burial.
