WILLIAM HIEATT HAWKINS : Born in Illinois on October 12, 1861. Died March 10, 1950 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 4 months, 28 days. Buried in North McAlester Cemetery, McAlester, Oklahoma on March 15, 1950 in the O.R. Allen lots (SW corner). The funeral was held at 2:30 PM on March 15 by Humphrey Funeral Home, Reverend Kenneth Garrison (Pastor/Christian Church) officiating. Pall Bearers: Bill Dawson, Arthur Barnett, A.R. Carr, T. H. Jordan, Pete Deel, Omer Magness.

William originally had a stone placed in Pleasant Dale Cemetery in Nebraska, where his wife, Mable Bittenbender Hawkins, died in 1929. That tombstone remains undated.

William's daughter, Emma Elizabeth (Hawkins) Allen and her husband, Oliver Richard Allen, are buried just north of William's grave. Deloris Louise (Brock) Hawkins, daughter of Lum and Effie Brock and daughter-in-law of William Hawkins, is buried to the north of Emma's grave.
