I am working on my husband's family tree. His grandmother was Joseph's younger sister, Myrtle Glass. Joseph Glass was actually born in 1874 not 1884. His death certificate shows 1884. He died when he was almost 90. I have many other documents supporting his birth year such as:

(1) His own draft registration card that he filled out

(2) The birth of his his first son, Robert Lee. (He would have been just 14+ years old if he was born in 1884.)

(3) His marriage to Martha was on November 18, 1894 (doubtful he would have been 10 at the time).

(4) All of the census records starting in 1880 (that shows he was 6 years old) and each following decade through the 1940 census records also confirm his birth year as 1874.
