George W. Glass, 97, of Big Spring, died on Monday, July 2, 2007, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Chaplain Dan Shadix with the VA Medical Center, officiating.

He was born on September 23, 1909, in Tarrant County, Texas.

He married Daphena Jeraldine Lee on August 4, 1929 in Sweetwater. She preceded him in death on October 31, 1968. He then married Ivy Gale and she preceded him in death on September 20, 1986.

George had been a resident of Big Spring since 1940.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and was self employed as a carpenter.

He enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen Center, playing dominoes and dancing.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Kila Massey and husband, Sam of Wickett and Sylvia Rodman and husband, Tom of Bowie; one grandson, Dini Smith and wife, Tammy of Odessa; four great grandchildren, Dena Massey Floyd and husband, James, and Susan Massey Wilson all of Wink, Kelli Wallace of Bowie, and Cameron Ruiz of Odessa;two great great grandchldren Garrett Floyd and Kim Wilson; his special companion, Ruby Gill of Big Spring; and special friends, Bonnie and George Franklin of Big Spring.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Glass; six brothers and one sister.

The family suggests memorials to the Spring City Senior Citizens Center, P. O. Box 3463, Big Spring, Texas 79721-3463.
