A.J. Shields, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 28th, at his residence in the Westville Community. He was born in Franklin County, Alabama on May 11, 1941 to Arriey Lee "Dutch" Shields and Thelma Lathem Shields. He lived most of his life in Aberdeen, was a graduate of Hamilton High School and the owner of Shields Service Station. He was a member of River Bend Baptist Church.

His service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31st at River Bend Baptist Church with Bro. Roy McHenry officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery.

He leaves his wife, Joyce Faye Threadgill Shields of Aberdeen; three daughters, Theresa Martin, Lisa Harris, and Christie Williams (Patrick), all of Aberdeen; two sons, David Shields and Philip Shields (Jennifer), all of Aberdeen; two sisters, Gearaldine Tipton of the Splunge Community, Shirley Parish (Rodney) of Hatley, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers are Luke Bishop, Denton Harris, Justin Knight, Michael Robinson, Luther Shields, Airrey Williams, Walton Harris and Terry Long. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews.

Visitation is 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30th, at the funeral home.
