The news was received of the death of Mrs. Sarah Barr, wife of the late George W. Barr, of Clarion, which occurred at her home, No. 285 Greenville Avenue, Monday evening, July I, 1929, at about 8 o'clock. Mrs. Barr had not been sick long, but her illness which was due to old age proved to be the closing of a long and beautiful Christian life, as she went to sleep in the full confidence that she would sometime-in God's time-awake in the spiritual likeness of her Saviour, and see him as he is.

The deceased was born December I, 1846, and at her death was aged 82 years and 7 months. She was the daughter of James and Esther Fitzgerald and was born and reared near Scotch Hill.. There she grew to mature womanhood and in 1865 was joined in wedlock with George W. Barr. They made their home in Scotch Hill until 1906,when they came to Clarion establishing their home in this place. Mr. Barr preceded his wife to the grave passing away several years ago.

Five children, three boys and two girls, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Barr is survived by the following
children: S. H. Barr and Mrs. Della Howe, Clarion; Mrs. Clair, Syos_, N. Y.; Mrs. Olive Steiner, East LaPorte, No. Car.,; Frank W. Barr, Sheffield, Pa.; Mrs. Gertrude Ritts, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Chas. M. Barr, Akron, Oh. All of these children were permitted to visit their mother in her last illness. She is the last of her family. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Barr was almost a life-time member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and has been associated with the Clarion church ever since they came here. She was a refined and gentle lady, modest and retiring in manner, but her Christianity was of that true and steadfast type which was always steadfast under any circumstances, and led her to influence the world about her by her loving spirit and kindly deeds. Hers was a noble Christian life.

Her funeral was held at her late home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, the services being conducted by her pastor, the Rev. W. J. Baldwin. Interment was made in the family lot in the Clarion cemetery.
