Mary Ada Clapp, 90, Waldron, died this morning at 1 a.m. in the Heritage Manor of Shelbyville, having been in failing health the past five years.

Mrs. Clapp was born Sept. 3, 1892, in Union County of Tennessee. She was the daughter of Riley and Mary Meltabarger. She was married to John Clapp and he preceded her in death March 23, 1971. She had lived in Shelby County the past 50 years, and was a housewife. She was a member of the Waldron Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Clyde (Gladys) McClain, DeLand, Fla., Mrs. Herbert (Mary Ann) Bowman, New Waverly, and Mrs. Norman (Barbara) Thompson, Indianapolis; three sons: Ross Clapp, Kouts, Troy and Coy Clapp, both of Shelbyville; 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons and six daughters, and was the last of her own family, being preceded by two brothers and two sisters.

The services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Carmony Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Don Rissler officiating, and with burial in the Van Pelt Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
