Herbert Hoover Crowe, age 85, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Crowe was a native of Carter County and the son of the late John Henry and Bessie Mae Perry Crowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Margaret Broyles Crowe; and a son, Harold Dean Crowe.

Mr. Crowe had worked as a cook and was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard for over 30 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Loretta VanDyke and husband Jim, Diane Waldrop and husband Ronnie, and Sandra Hamlin and husband Steve; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Crowe; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Herbert Hoover Crowe will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Justin Deaton and Rev. Mark Potter, officiating. Music will be provided by Megan Harsh. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Caleb Buckles, Logan Buckles, Dakota Crowe, Dillion Crowe, Brian Austin, Matthew Waldrop and Jordan Agan. Honorary pallbearer will be Shannon Carrier. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 9:45 AM, to go in procession.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Eastside Freewill Baptist Church- Food Pantry, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
