J. Leland Phillips was a faithful member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for nearly twenty-five years. He retired from Bank south as a Senior Vice-President and a member of the Board of Directors. Following retirement after 47 years of employment he continued to serve as a Director Emeritus. Leland retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves following active duty in WWll.
