Mack Donald Bennett, 80, died Wednesday morning, December 17, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born August 14, 1934 in Stokes County to Posie and Lera Mabe Bennett. Mack was a member of Corinth Church of Christ, and retired from Hanes Dye and Finishing with 37 years of service. After retirement he worked at the Shell station in Germanton, and was also known as the Chewing Gum Man. His grandson was the light of his life and proudly called him “His Little Buddy”. He was an avid racing fan, and loved to play golf.

A 2:00 pm funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Corinth Church of Christ with Rev. Jim Springer officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

In addition his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Elmer Bennett, and L.G. Bennett.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Minnie Cathryn Rutledge Bennett of the home, son, Chris Bennett of Charlotte, daughter, Pamela Thomas and husband Brian of Clemmons, one special grandson, Bennett Charles Thomas; 3 sisters; Virginia Cardwell of Mayodan, Glenda Duncan of Danbury and Betty Briggs and husband James of Danbury; 2 brothers; Wayne Bennett and wife JoAnn of Lawsonville and Junior Bennett and wife Debbie of Danbury; 4 sisters-in-law; Ruth Bennett of WV, Juanita Bennett of Madison, Carolyn Rutledge of Germanton and Hilda Duncan and husband Jackie of Walkertown.
