HANCE A. SWEAT
Funeral services for Mr. Hance A. Sweat, 82, of Macclenny, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Macclenny Church of God, with the Rev. Lawton B. Thomas, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in South Prong Cemetery, south of Sanderson. Active pallbearers will be Joe Rhoden, Albert Eddy, Spessard Holland, Ira Burnsed, Wayne Yarbrough and Tommy McGlew.
Mr. Sweat died Thursday in Macclenny after a lengthy illness. He was a nurseryman with Southern States Nursery of Macclenny until his retirement in June of 1969. Mr. Sweat was a native and lifelong resident of Macclenny and Baker County, FL. and a member of the Macclenny Church of God.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nettie Sweat, of Macclenny; eight daughters, Mrs. Nellie Otis and Mrs. Mandy Wainwright of Jacksonville, Mrs. Wilma Blackwell of Macclenny, Mrs. Alma Hopps, Mrs. Bernice Raulerson, Mrs. Shirley Rhoden and Mrs. Sally Cox all of St. Augustine and Mrs. Tory Higginbotham of Maxville; three sons, Alford Sweat of Macclenny, Leslie Sweat of Maxville and Johnny Sweat of Jacksonville; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Yawn and Mrs. Neller Johns both of Macclenny; 36 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Macclenny Funeral Home, 712 W. Sixth Street, Macclenny.
