Actress Lana Turner and Henry Topping Jr, owner of a 14 million dollar tin-plat fortune, will shortly announce their plans to marry, the Los Angeles Examiner said tonight. The formal announcement will be made on the night of Jan 9 at one of the biggest night club parties ever staged in Hollywood, the paper said. Date for the marriage has not been set, it was stated, because it must wait until finalization of Toppings divorce from his recent wife, Actress Arline Judge. Topping filed suit against her only four days ago in Conneticut, which does not have the one-year interlocutory wait as prescribed in California.
The Hollywood announcement party will be staged at the Mocambo Night Club, one of the Sunset Strip's "Ultra" play spots. Topping, according to the Examiner, has hired the entire club for the party.
There will be 400 invited guests. On the invitation list are Wally and the Duke of Windsor, who were co-guests at the brilliant New York party a few weeks ago given by Mrs. Evander Schley where Lana and Topping first met.
A series of long-distance telephone calls from the Topping estate in Greenwich, Conn., recently tipped persons off as to what was coming. The examiner said Topping called Johnny Meyer, public relations agent who recently figured in the Howard Hughes war contracts investigation, and told him to make all the arrangements.
Lana will be Topping's fourth wife. She will have been preceded by Actress Jayne Shadduck; Gloria (Mimi) Baker, half sister of Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, and Arline Judge.
Topping will be Lana's third husband. She previously was married to Stephen Crane and Band Leader Artie Shaw.

A millionaire today hired a plush Hollywood night club to give a $25,000 party for movie star Lana Turner, and rumors are the party is to announce their engagement.
The engagement rumors were not confirmed by anybody but Albert Califano, headwaiter at the Mocambo Club.
Charlie Morrison, Mocambo manager, confirmed he is turning his club over to Henry (Bob) Topping Jr, January 9th to entertain 400 guests at a shindig Morrison figures will cost $25,000.
Met Recently At Party
Miss Turner, recovering from a blighted romance with actor Tyrone Power, and Topping met at a New York party a few weeks ago and started romance rumors almost immediately.
Four days ago Topping filed suit in Conneticut, to divorce actress Arline Judge, his third wife.
Neither Miss Turner nor Topping both in New York, was available for comment on the engagement.
"It's a matter of conjecture." Morrison hedged. Albert, the headwaiter, said he is sure it will be an engagement party.

Lana Turner, curvesome film star, today got herself back into good graces at her studio and was restored to the payroll.
The blonde actress spent most of the day in conference with E. J. Mannix, general manager, who announced afterwards that the actress was no longer suspended.
No mention was made either last week in the original suspension order, or in its revocation, of Miss Turners headlined romances with Tyron Power or Henry Topping, millionaire. Reports in Hollywood said the studio was distressed over her love life and the notoreity it received. Lana will play the role of Lady de Winter, orginally assigned her in "The Three Musketeers."

Topping told reporters the marriage would take place as soon as his estranged wife, Arline Judge, signs divorce settlement papers in Bridgeport, Conn.
Topping and Miss Turner are going to London immediately after the marriage for the opening of his midget auto racing venture.
Charles C Northrup of a clothes designing firm said Lana had ordered a 40-piece wardrobe, including suits, hats, coats, dresses, shoes and a wedding gown of champagne lace over champagne satin. Lana also ordered gowns for her mother, her daughter and Sara Hamilton, who is to be her matron of honor. Her bill: approximately $25,000.
At a Beverly Hills lingerie shop she spent $5,000 more for such items as two dozen panties, and brassieres, a dozen nightgowns, including six flowered chiffon numbers of finger-tip length, robes, etc.

The ink was barely dry on the divorce decree Arline Judge obtained from Mr. Topping in Bridgeport, Conn. when the Turner-Topping ceremony was set for Monday here.
The nuptials will be held in the home of William R. Wilkerson, Hollywood trade paper publisher who will double as best man.
It will be the fourth marriage for both 28-year old Lana and Bob, 34.
The affair will have more than just a touch of what Hollywood terms "class." Miss Turner has ordered a $30,000 trousseau, including $5,000 worth of lingerie.

Lana Turner of the million-dollar figure and Henry J (Bob) Topping Jr of the tin-plate millions will merge their fortunes today in a tinseled Hollywood wedding.
The 28 year old actress and the wealthy sportsman, 34, each will be starting a fourth matrimonial venture. And they'll get off in grand style--with typical filmland trimmings.
The ceremony is scheduled late today in the Bel-Air home of publisher William R Wilkinson, the man who first discovered Lana hanging over a soda fountain 11 years ago.
The screen's foremost sweater girl will wear Chantilly lace of champagne hue for this production. Carrying a bouquet of four large white orchids, she will descend a curving stairway on Wilkerson's arm while strings play the wedding march.
Topping and the Rev. Stewart P. McLennan will be waiting before an elaborate bower. Sara Hamilton, magazine writer, will be the maid of honor,. Wilkerson will double as best man.
Adding to the ceremony will be the appearance of Lana's 5-year-old daughter, Cheryl, as flower girl.
That's Cheryl Crane, Lana's baby by Stephen Crane-twice her husband. Artie Shaw was her first.
Topping was parted from his third wife, former actress Arline Judge, last Friday. Arline got a Bridgeport, Conn. divorce and $100,000 alimony.
The wedding -- described by Lana's studio spokesman as "simple" --will be topped by a champagne reception. The buffet table will gleam with carved ice statuary of the bridge and groom, and love birds kissing.
All this will be on the terrace of Wilkerson's two-story Georgian home and a 50-foot flower trellis will hide the scene from the eyes of the passing curious.
The festive board will groan neath the weight of lobsters flown from Boston and assorted delicacies from New York and Louisiana. Roast pheasant, caviar, smoked salmon, hams, turkeys will also be available to the 75 to 100 guests expected.
Mischa Novy's orchestra, mostly violins, will play "O Promise Me," "I love You Truly," and "Because" before the ceremony. Added to these traditionals will be a new song requested by Lana-"Who But you?"
After the nuptials and reception, the former Hollywood high school girl who rose to stardom will don part of her $25,000 trousseau and prepare to leave on a New York-London honeymoon, with Palm Springs, California the first stop.
They are scheduled to sail for London, May 5, planning to be there for the opening of a midget racing venture which Topping is backing. Their stay in Europe is expected to last several months.

Screen actress Lana Turner had a miscarriage Thursday at Doctor's Hospital, the hospital announced.
Miss Turner, wife of Millionaire Henry J (Bob) Topping, had been expecting a baby in April.
The hospital said Miss Turner's condition was "very good." The miscarriage occurred at 5:45 p.m. (Dallas time).
She was admitted to the hospital Wednesday night, a spokesman said, for "routine checks" and to undergo RH factor blood tests.
He said that when the blond screen star was admitted there was no indication that she would have a miscarriage.
Miss Turner was married to Topping last April.

Millionaire investor Henry J (Bob) Topping, 54, former husband of Lana Turner and Sonja Henie, died Sunday of an apparent heart attack.
Topping collapsed at his canal-front home here Sunday evening and was pronounced dead on arrival at Naples Community Hospital.
The brother of former New York Yankees owner Dan Topping, he retired four years ago.
In addition to Dan Topping, of Miami, he is survived by his wife, Mona; a daughter, Mrs. A. A. Sack, and a son, Henry J Jr, both of New York City; another brother, John R of Clearwater, Fla, and two grandchildren.
Topping retired to this Gulf Coast community four years ago.

The wedding -- described by Lana's studio spokesman as "simple" --will be topped by a champagne reception. The buffet table will gleam with carved ice statuary of the bridge and groom, and love birds kissing.
All this will be on the terrace of Wilkerson's two-story Georgian home and a 50-foot flower trellis will hide the scene from the eyes of the passing curious.
The festive board will groan neath the weight of lobsters flown from Boston and assorted delicacies from New York and Louisiana. Roast pheasant, caviar, smoked salmon, hams, turkeys will also be available to the 75 to 100 guests expected.
Mischa Novy's orchestra, mostly violins, will play "O Promise Me," "I love You Truly," and "Because" before the ceremony. Added to these traditionals will be a new song requested by Lana-"Who But you?"
After the nuptials and reception, the former Hollywood high school girl who rose to stardom will don part of her $25,000 trousseau and prepare to leave on a New York-London honeymoon, with Palm Springs, California the first stop.
They are scheduled to sail for London, May 5, planning to be there for the opening of a midget racing venture which Topping is backing. Their stay in Europe is expected to last several months.

Screen actress Lana Turner had a miscarriage Thursday at Doctor's Hospital, the hospital announced.
Miss Turner, wife of Millionaire Henry J (Bob) Topping, had been expecting a baby in April.
The hospital said Miss Turner's condition was "very good." The miscarriage occurred at 5:45 p.m. (Dallas time).
She was admitted to the hospital Wednesday night, a spokesman said, for "routine checks" and to undergo RH factor blood tests.
He said that when the blond screen star was admitted there was no indication that she would have a miscarriage.
Miss Turner was married to Topping last April.

Topping collapsed at his canal-front home here Sunday evening and was pronounced dead on arrival at Naples Community Hospital.
The brother of former New York Yankees owner Dan Topping, he retired four years ago.
In addition to Dan Topping, of Miami, he is survived by his wife, Mona; a daughter, Mrs. A. A. Sack, and a son, Henry J Jr, both of New York City; another brother, John R of Clearwater, Fla, and two grandchildren.

Actress Lana Turner and Henry Topping Jr, owner of a 14 million dollar tin-plat fortune, will shortly announce their plans to marry, the Los Angeles Examiner said tonight. The formal announcement will be made on the night of Jan 9 at one of the biggest night club parties ever staged in Hollywood, the paper said. Date for the marriage has not been set, it was stated, because it must wait until finalization of Toppings divorce from his recent wife, Actress Arline Judge. Topping filed suit against her only four days ago in Conneticut, which does not have the one-year interlocutory wait as prescribed in California.
The Hollywood announcement party will be staged at the Mocambo Night Club, one of the Sunset Strip's "Ultra" play spots. Topping, according to the Examiner, has hired the entire club for the party.
There will be 400 invited guests. On the invitation list are Wally and the Duke of Windsor, who were co-guests at the brilliant New York party a few weeks ago given by Mrs. Evander Schley where Lana and Topping first met.
A series of long-distance telephone calls from the Topping estate in Greenwich, Conn., recently tipped persons off as to what was coming. The examiner said Topping called Johnny Meyer, public relations agent who recently figured in the Howard Hughes war contracts investigation, and told him to make all the arrangements.
Lana will be Topping's fourth wife. She will have been preceded by Actress Jayne Shadduck; Gloria (Mimi) Baker, half sister of Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, and Arline Judge.

The engagement rumors were not confirmed by anybody but Albert Califano, headwaiter at the Mocambo Club.
Charlie Morrison, Mocambo manager, confirmed he is turning his club over to Henry (Bob) Topping Jr, January 9th to entertain 400 guests at a shindig Morrison figures will cost $25,000.

Miss Turner, recovering from a blighted romance with actor Tyrone Power, and Topping met at a New York party a few weeks ago and started romance rumors almost immediately.
Four days ago Topping filed suit in Conneticut, to divorce actress Arline Judge, his third wife.

The blonde actress spent most of the day in conference with E. J. Mannix, general manager, who announced afterwards that the actress was no longer suspended.

Lavish Party May Reveal Lana Turner, Topping Behrothal

A millionaire today hired a plush Hollywood night club to give a $25,000 party for movie star Lana Turner, and rumors are the party is to announce their engagement.
The engagement rumors were not confirmed by anybody but Albert Califano, headwaiter at the Mocambo Club.
Charlie Morrison, Mocambo manager, confirmed he is turning his club over to Henry (Bob) Topping Jr, January 9th to entertain 400 guests at a shindig Morrison figures will cost $25,000.
Met Recently At Party
Miss Turner, recovering from a blighted romance with actor Tyrone Power, and Topping met at a New York party a few weeks ago and started romance rumors almost immediately.
Four days ago Topping filed suit in Conneticut, to divorce actress Arline Judge, his third wife.
Neither Miss Turner nor Topping both in New York, was available for comment on the engagement.
"It's a matter of conjecture." Morrison hedged. Albert, the headwaiter, said he is sure it will be an engagement party.

Lana Turner Back on Film Payroll

Lana Turner, curvesome film star, today got herself back into good graces at her studio and was restored to the payroll.
The blonde actress spent most of the day in conference with E. J. Mannix, general manager, who announced afterwards that the actress was no longer suspended.
No mention was made either last week in the original suspension order, or in its revocation, of Miss Turners headlined romances with Tyron Power or Henry Topping, millionaire. Reports in Hollywood said the studio was distressed over her love life and the notoreity it received. Lana will play the role of Lady de Winter, orginally assigned her in "The Three Musketeers."

Puffing in a black wasp waisted gown that squeezed a good deal of Miss Turner out the top, she declared people can stop making wedding plans for her and Bob Topping because they have no such plans themselves.
She never was involved either she said with John Alden Talbot, wealthy Palm Beachite, whose wife named Miss Turner in a temporary maintenance suit.

Wealthy sportsman Bob Topping and Lana Turner plan to be married in two weeks and she has ordered a $30,000 wardrobe for the occasion.
Topping told reporters the marriage would take place as soon as his estranged wife, Arline Judge, signs divorce settlement papers in Bridgeport, Conn.
Topping and Miss Turner are going to London immediately after the marriage for the opening of his midget auto racing venture.
Charles C Northrup of a clothes designing firm said Lana had ordered a 40-piece wardrobe, including suits, hats, coats, dresses, shoes and a wedding gown of champagne lace over champagne satin. Lana also ordered gowns for her mother, her daughter and Sara Hamilton, who is to be her matron of honor. Her bill: approximately $25,000.
At a Beverly Hills lingerie shop she spent $5,000 more for such items as two dozen panties, and brassieres, a dozen nightgowns, including six flowered chiffon numbers of finger-tip length, robes, etc.

Lana Turner to Wed Bob Topping Monday

The way was cleared today for the wedding movieland has been predicting all year--Actress Lana Turner and Tinplate Heir Henry J. (Bob) Topping, Jr.
The ink was barely dry on the divorce decree Arline Judge obtained from Mr. Topping in Bridgeport, Conn. when the Turner-Topping ceremony was set for Monday here.
The nuptials will be held in the home of William R. Wilkerson, Hollywood trade paper publisher who will double as best man.
It will be the fourth marriage for both 28-year old Lana and Bob, 34.
The affair will have more than just a touch of what Hollywood terms "class." Miss Turner has ordered a $30,000 trousseau, including $5,000 worth of lingerie.

Lana Turner of the million-dollar figure and Henry J (Bob) Topping Jr of the tin-plate millions will merge their fortunes today in a tinseled Hollywood wedding.
The 28 year old actress and the wealthy sportsman, 34, each will be starting a fourth matrimonial venture. And they'll get off in grand style--with typical filmland trimmings.
The ceremony is scheduled late today in the Bel-Air home of publisher William R Wilkinson, the man who first discovered Lana hanging over a soda fountain 11 years ago.
The screen's foremost sweater girl will wear Chantilly lace of champagne hue for this production. Carrying a bouquet of four large white orchids, she will descend a curving stairway on Wilkerson's arm while strings play the wedding march.
Topping and the Rev. Stewart P. McLennan will be waiting before an elaborate bower. Sara Hamilton, magazine writer, will be the maid of honor,. Wilkerson will double as best man.
Adding to the ceremony will be the appearance of Lana's 5-year-old daughter, Cheryl, as flower girl.
That's Cheryl Crane, Lana's baby by Stephen Crane-twice her husband. Artie Shaw was her first.
Topping was parted from his third wife, former actress Arline Judge, last Friday. Arline got a Bridgeport, Conn. divorce and $100,000 alimony.
The wedding -- described by Lana's studio spokesman as "simple" --will be topped by a champagne reception. The buffet table will gleam with carved ice statuary of the bridge and groom, and love birds kissing.
All this will be on the terrace of Wilkerson's two-story Georgian home and a 50-foot flower trellis will hide the scene from the eyes of the passing curious.
The festive board will groan neath the weight of lobsters flown from Boston and assorted delicacies from New York and Louisiana. Roast pheasant, caviar, smoked salmon, hams, turkeys will also be available to the 75 to 100 guests expected.
Mischa Novy's orchestra, mostly violins, will play "O Promise Me," "I love You Truly," and "Because" before the ceremony. Added to these traditionals will be a new song requested by Lana-"Who But you?"
After the nuptials and reception, the former Hollywood high school girl who rose to stardom will don part of her $25,000 trousseau and prepare to leave on a New York-London honeymoon, with Palm Springs, California the first stop.
They are scheduled to sail for London, May 5, planning to be there for the opening of a midget racing venture which Topping is backing. Their stay in Europe is expected to last several months.

She showed up in a nifty grey "new look" sharkskin dress, with a sable furpiece over one shoulder and husband, Dan (error Henry) Toppings arm draped over the other. Honeymoon Plans: It was 12:30 p.m. and she looked good up close. Lana said they expected to honeymoon in England about a month. "Two months," corrected Topping, fingering a white carnation on the lapel on his blue, pin-striped suit.

A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer representative said Miss Turner, the bride of Millionaire Sportsman Bob Topping telephoned from New York with the news.
Miss Turner said she and Topping plan to live in Greenwich, Conn. MGM was planning to have Lana play the starring role in "Madame Bovary."

Star Lana Turner Has Miscarriage

Screen actress Lana Turner had a miscarriage Thursday at Doctor's Hospital, the hospital announced.
Miss Turner, wife of Millionaire Henry J (Bob) Topping, had been expecting a baby in April.
The hospital said Miss Turner's condition was "very good." The miscarriage occurred at 5:45 p.m. (Dallas time).
She was admitted to the hospital Wednesday night, a spokesman said, for "routine checks" and to undergo RH factor blood tests.
He said that when the blond screen star was admitted there was no indication that she would have a miscarriage.
Miss Turner was married to Topping last April.

Millionaire investor Henry J (Bob) Topping, 54, former husband of Lana Turner and Sonja Henie, died Sunday of an apparent heart attack.
Topping collapsed at his canal-front home here Sunday evening and was pronounced dead on arrival at Naples Community Hospital.
The brother of former New York Yankees owner Dan Topping, he retired four years ago.
In addition to Dan Topping, of Miami, he is survived by his wife, Mona; a daughter, Mrs. A. A. Sack, and a son, Henry J Jr, both of New York City; another brother, John R of Clearwater, Fla, and two grandchildren.
Topping retired to this Gulf Coast community four years ago.
