53 yrs., 3 mos.∼Elizabeth Reid McClure, daughter of John McClure and the former Miss Elizabeth Reid Oates, was born near Crowders, North Carolina on the 18th day of October 1788. She was the youngest of eight children.

On the 15th of April 1811, Elizabeth married John Oates, III son of John Oates and Mary Henry [McGill] Oates. This union had eight children:

Eliza Reid (1817-1867)
Mary McGill (1819-1893)
Joseph Dixon (1823-1862)

Elizabeth Reid [McClure] Oates departed this life on the 12th day of January 1841.
