The news of the death of Mrs. Arminda Hanes, wife of Samuel S. Hanes, of Potwin, which occurred Saturday night, February 18 at 10 p.m. brings sorrow to a host of friends.
Arminda Jane Baty was born December 3, 1826 in Ripley, Ohio, to David and Emily Pickerill Baty, and was at the time of her death 78 years of age. She was married in 1843 to Francis Bishop, of this union were born six children, five sons and one daughter, four sons who reside in Missouri were unable to be with her, one son, John Bishop of Chelsea and her daughter, Mrs. Alex Miller of El Dorado were present at the time of her death. Mr. Bishop died nine years ago. She was married February 11, 1902 to Samuel S. Hanes, of Potwin. The deceased was converted in 1849 and joined the Baptist church at Lacon, Ill., since coming to Potwin she united with the Methodist Church.
The husband, sons and daughter are grief stricken over the unexpected loss of this dear one who has made their home bright and cheerful and taught them the value of a wife and mother’s guidance, comfort and affections. The numerous friends here give their sincerest sympathy to the sorrowing ones. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 10 a.m. Monday by Rev. Votaw and she was laid to rest in McGill cemetery.
