Silver Cliff, Colorado
March 16, 1904
The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Shaeffer died on Thursday morning last, at the age of 9 months and 10 days, of congestion. Ada was an exceptionally bright child and her death deprives a home of one whose prattle and play had already won her a prominent place in the family circle. The funeral, conducted by Rev Blake, was held at the residence Saturday afternoon, and the service was very pathetic and impressive. The interment was at the Silver Cliff cemetery, where the remains were tenderly laid to rest.
"A bud the Gardner gave them,
A pure and lovely child;
He gave it to their keeping
To cherish undefiled;
But just as it was opening
To the glory of the day,
Down came the Heavenly Gardener
And took their child away."
