James Albert Hollis known throughout his life simply as "Hap" was the first of seven children born to William James Hollis and Laura (Lura) Belle Coats Tatro. Born in Iowa as a young child his family moved to Davenport, Washington where he grew up and settled in his adult years. He married Jennie Lavania Culver in Bonner, Idaho 16 Jul 1919. They had three children, Lorraine Freeda, b. 26 Aug 1919, James O. b. 29 Jan 1922, and Harold Howard, b. 23 Jan 1924. They divorced sometime after 1924 and the children from all indications went with their mother. Jennie Culver Hollis married James R Christie sometime prior to 1930 and the children assumed the surname of their step-father.
