A resident of Wellington since 1971, he was a retired oil field pumper for Lario Oil and Gas Co., Wichita, for 42 years. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Tom Schwinn American Legion Post No. 90, and the Dan C. Matson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 881, all at Wellington.
On June 6, 1946, he married Eleanor "Ellie" Geist at Victoria. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Robert A., Wellington; two daughters, Beverly Brungardt, Hays, and Barbara Sage, Denver; four brothers, Marcellus, Minneapolis, Minn., Elmer, Coon Rapids, Minn., Isadore, Hays, and Albert, Aztec, N.M.; two sisters, Isabelle Staab, Stafford, and Ann Lang, Great Bend; three half-sisters, Lenore Billinger, Hays, Genirose Bergman, Blaine, Minn., and Juanita Hoffman, Westminster, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays. Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association in care of Hawks Funeral Home, Wellington.
