Isadore M. Schmeidler, 70, 1326 Douglas, died Saturday, June 5, 1993 at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1922 in Severin to Emil and Katie (Dinkel) Schmeidler.

He married Vernetta Walters Sept. 23, 1947 in Ellis County.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired farmer and oil field pumper. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion, and a life member of the VFW, all of Hays.

Survivors include his wife, Colwich Health Center Nursing Home; two sons, Douglas of Hays, and Thomas of Omaha, Neb.; four daughters, Donna Honas of Wichita, Mary Kay Ortt of St. Louis, Mona Fox of Hays, and Laura Geschwentner of Haysville; three brothers, Marcellus of Minneapolis, Elmer of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Albert of Aztec, N.M.; two sisters, Isabel Staab of Stafford, Ann Lang of Great Bend; stepsisters, Lenore Billinger of Hays, Genirose Bergman of Blaine, Minn., and Juanita Hoffman of Westminster, Colo.; 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Joseph, and a stepsister, Mary Ann Leiker.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine, with Father Donald Zimmerman officiating; burial in St. Severin Cemetery, Ellis County, with military honors by the Hays VFW. A parish vigil service is scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine. Visiting hours at the funeral home are form 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to Colwich Health Center Nursing Home Activity Center.
