David O'Kane was born 05th November 1856, Moneyneena, County Derry. He was the fourth of eight children born to Roger O'Kane and Mary McCloskey. He Married Mary Hegarty 16th July 1896. He was a National School Teacher 1896-1921, Teaching in Brackadysart School 1896-1900 and Moneyneena School 1900-1921. On the 12th December 1927, David took sick and was taken to the Mater Hospital in Belfast, where he died of Peritonitis.
