Ms. Debra Ann Mullins, 62, formerly of the Richmond area, passed away Thursday, June 20, at her daughter’s home in Columbia, Missouri.

She was born June 6, 1951 in Richmond to John A. Jr. and Neva Lewis Mullins. She graduated from Northeastern High School in 1969 later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Montclair State University. She was certified through Butler University in Wichita, Kansas as a drug and alcohol counselor and helped others as a substance abuse counselor for many years.

Although she battled MS and cancer for years, she maintained a positive outlook on life, never complaining of the pain she suffered. She was a role model to many who had a strong heart and lived life to the fullest.

Known to her family and friends, she was filled with compassion and interest in helping the ones that could not help themselves. To our beloved mother, family and friend, may we always carry you close in our hearts.

Debra is survived by her daughter, Kathy Garrett, of Columbia, Missouri; son, Troy Garrett, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 3 grandchildren, Johnathon, Sarah and Amanda; Debra Mullins, of Richmond; sister & brother-in-law, Sharon & Ron Roberts, of Richmond; brother & sister-in-law, Lloyd & Jessica Mullins, of Richmond; brother & sister-in-law, David & Robin Mullins, of Noblesville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog, Angel.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard Wayne Mullins, in 1997 and Brian Dee Mullins, in 1957.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at the funeral home.
