George Whobrey Dies At Age 82; Funeral Sunday

George Willis Whobrey died at 6:15 p. m. Friday at his home on the Benton Road, in Dodds Township, at the age of 82 years, one month and four days. Mr. Whobrey operated a grocery store for several years. For 17 years he was employed by the C. & E. I. Rrailroad and for four years worked as a freight man for the L. & N. Railroad. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p. m. at Myers Chapel. Burial will be in West Salem cemetery. Mr. Whobrey was born Feb. 19, 1880 in Hamilton county, the son of John and Catherine (Brandon) Whobrey. He was a resident of Jefferson county for 44 years. On June 20, 1906 he was married, at Marion to Bertha Lewis, who survives. Mr. Whobrey was a member of the Bethel Baptist church. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Lewis Whobrey of Mt Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Grant, Mrs. Mabel Cooke and Mrs. Inez Warren, all of Mt. Vernon; one brother, William Whobrey of Mt. Vernon; and one sister, Mrs, Anna Leffler of Benton. One son, Lawrence, preceded him in death
