Mary T. Kovacs, 76, of 2423 Portsmouth Ave., co-owner of an East Toledo grocery 40 years, died Monday in Spencer Manor Nursing Home, Lewis Avenue.
Mrs. Kovacs and her late husband, Stephen R. Kovacs, operated Kovacs Grocery at several locations, including 25 years on Whitmore Street. She retired 10 years ago.
She was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society of St.Stephen’s Church.
Surviving are her son, Louis; daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Gillette; brothers, John and Steve Thomas, and sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rick, Mrs. Irene Phelps and Mrs. Helen Benedict.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in the church. The Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Kinsey Mortuary, where the body will be after 7 tonight. Toledo Blade, Tuesday, April 18, 1972
