Roy Lee Bogar, 82, of Pikeville, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Pikeville Medical Center.He was born at Hardy, Dec. 6, 1931, the son of the late Ermil Bogar and Elsie Hatfield Bogar.He was a coal miner/heavy equipment operator; a member of United Mine Workers of America; a U.S. Army veteran; and a member of Faith First Baptist Church.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lois C. Bogar, who died Aug. 29, 2013; three brothers, J.E. Bogar, L.D. Bogar and John Bogar; and two sisters, Magdalene Stacy and Ressie Strange.He is survived by one son, David Bogar (Betty) of Dandridge, Tenn.; one daughter, Kathy Lea Blackburn (Dallas) of Pikeville; one brother, Ermil “Sonny” Jr. Bogar of Mt. Eden; two sisters, Gladys Brookhart of Lexington and Ollie Caines of Brooksville, Fla.; and one grandchild, Maria Hawkins (Michael) of Ravenna, Ohio.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Charles “Chuck” Justice and Nelson “Nick” Damron officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, East Shelbiana. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday with a singing service at 7.
