Sarah E. Buckner was born July 1, 1853, departed this life July 6, 1908. She was united in marriage to R. H. Spicer March 3, 1875. To this union five children were born, two having preceded their mother to the Home of Peace.
She united with the Mt. Zion Baptist church at Trafalgar, Ind. in 1872, but a short time afterward moved her membership to Beech Grove Baptist church where she faithfully served her Master until about eight years ago, when she was stricken with partial paralysis. After that time she was deprived of the privilege of public worship, but during her long period of illness, which was attended by intense suffering, she exhibited the Christian spirit and often expressed a desire to depart and be with Christ which she felt was far better since she could no longer render Him in larger service she so much desired to give. During her illness she was patient and submissive to the divine will and continued to repeat the glory of her Master to her family and friends.
She was a loving wife, a good mother and a devoted Christian. She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, three children, two sisters, three brothers and a multitude of friends.
