MONTICELLO - Phillip N. Short, 71, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in his home at Lazy Oaks Mobile Home Court, Route 5, Monticello. He had been in ill health four years.
Mr. Short had been a truck driver most of his life.
Born in Delphi, March 16, 1914, he had lived in Bartonville, Ill., 21 years, and in the Monticello community the past 10 years. He was married Dec. 27, 1947, to Ethel Irene Marnitz, and resided in the Lafayette community during his early married life.
Mr. Short was a member of United Methodist Church, Reynolds; American Legion in Bartonville, Ill.; and Teamsters Union Local 627. A World War II veteran, he served in the Army.
Surviving with the widow are a son, Gerald W. Short of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Ross Short of Orlando and Dick Short of Milwaukee, Wis.; three half brothers, Junior and Kenneth Short, both of Wabash, and Ralph Short of Oxnard, Calif.; a half sister, Mrs. Jean Lyons of Lafayette; and three stepbrothers, Charles Lester of Buffalo, George Lester of Ellisville, Miss., and Paul Lester of Wabash.
