Phyllis Jean Short was the daughter of Newt and Kathryn (Smith) Short. At the time of death, she was divorced; married names were Harris, Black and Lyon. She was survived by at least one daughter, Nancy Clark.

Phyllis Jean Short, 69, formerly of Friendship House North, West Lafayette, died at 11:25 PM Saturday, June 24, 2000, at Monticello Healthcare Center. Born March 16, 1931, at Delphi, she had lived most of her life in Lafayette.

Ms. Short was a waitress for three years at LUMS in West Lafayette, and was a dishwasher at S&S Cafe in Lafayette. For more than 25 years, she was a babysitter. She was a member of TOPS in Lafayette.

Surviving is a daughter, Nancy Clark of Monticello; six brothers, Fred Short, Kenny Short and Paul Lester, all of Lafayette, Ralph Short of California, Dick Short of Milwaukee, WI, and George Lester of Mississippi; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Clark. Preceded in death by four brothers.
