Lydia married Barnet Whitmore Prescott, Jan. 5, 1867, in Cole, Missouri. They moved to California in the 1880s but seem to have separated. In the 1900 census, Barnett W. Prescott was in Chicago, while Lydia was in Oakland, Calif., with several children she was caring for through her work for the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Her younger daughter Helen is probably the 5-year-old girl named Helena Brook living with her in 1900.
