Ada Evelyn Bean Callahan, age 84, of Sandy, our loving mother, passed away Nov. 6, 1997.

She was born Dec. 16, 1912 in Price, Utah, the fourth of seven children born to Joseph Abraham and Mary Elizabeth Evans Bean. She was raised in Price until the age of 16 when her family moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School. She married Frank P. Callahan in Salt Lake City, Dec. 22, 1939, later divorced. From this union came six children, one of whom, Dennis Raymond, died in early childhood.

She was employed by the Salt Lake City School District for many years. Ada was active in the LDS Church teaching Primary for many years. She served a full time mission in the CA, Los Angeles Mission then dedicated herself to church temple work for several years. After leaving active temple work she performed compassionate service as a live-in companion for an elderly woman for a period of ten years in Yucaipa, CA. Upon the death of her companion she moved to Provo, UT. for a period of two and a half years. With declining health, she moved to Sandy, UT. to live with her daughter. She resided in the home for two years until her death.

Our mothers life long concern was for her family, making many sacrifices for them throughout her life.
