Born in Pickens, SC, she was the daughter of the late Wyatt and Essie Mae McGaha.
Ethel was retired from textiles and was also the owner and operator of Ray's Café. She was referred to as Mam-ma in the Poe Mill community.
Surviving are, one daughter, Sarah Hale Davis; five sons, Buddy McGaha, Roger McGaha, Larry Hale, Donny Hale (Patsy), and Freddy Hale (Shelia); 27 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband she was preceded in death by, one daughter, Jeannie Hale Cox; and two sons, Stanley "Bo" Hale and Teddy Hale.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland West Cemetery.
