Paul D. Anaya, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2014.
Paul or "Mr. Shine" as he was affectionately known for that grin that was like the Sunshine, was reunited in Heaven with his parents, his beloved wife, Lena Anaya, his sister, Lucaria Vega and his brothers, Valentine "Tiny" Anaya, Luís Anaya and Phillip "PT" Anaya.
Paul was born in Socorro, NM on June 21, 1936 to Felipe and María (Gonzáles) Anaya.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Socorro.
Paul retired from New Mexico Tech after 35 years of service. Paul also served and retired from the National Guard. Paul was a member and at one time President of the Socorro Warrior Booster Club. Alongside his brothers, Paul was part of the "Chain Gang" for many Warrior football games. Paul was an avid sports fan and coached baseball and football for many piñon and little league teams. In his older years, Paul was still an avid sports fan, rooting for his Socorro Warriors, Dallas Cowboys and his New York Yankees.
Paul enjoyed visiting the casino occasionally and listening to his Spanish music which brought back so many memories of dancing with his love, Lena. His devotion to San Miguel Church and his faith in God always sustained him. Paul was the oldest of ten and he and his siblings have left quite an Anaya legacy for all to remember and cherish.
Paul is survived by his devoted children, Paul Anaya Jr. and his wife, Louise and Arlene Lindsey-Torres and her husband, Tony, his brothers, Narciso, Gilbert and his wife, Pricilla and Leroy and his wife, Frances, his sisters, Annie and Debbie and her husband, Charles and many other loving family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Grandpa "Sunshine" will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Neil and his wife, Jennifer, Mark and John, Derrick and his wife, Ashley, Brett and Aubry and his great-grandchildren, Christian, Bradley, Juliana, Khloe and Kylee.
