Phillip was born in Socorro, NM on February 12, 1950 to Felipe and María (Gonzáles) Anaya.
P.T. served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and then became a member of the New Mexico Army National Guard.
P.T. retired from the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District after 31 years of service. P.T. enjoyed hunting and was Socorro's "#1" sports fan, You could always see him at one of the local sports activities supporting the teams or running the chains at the Warrior football games. P.T. was an avid University of New Mexico Lobo fan and loved his New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. P.T. was a member of the Socorro Warrior Booster Club and also served as president.
In 2006, he was elected Socorro County Commissioner and served the community he loved until his passing. P.T. was a devoted family man and strong in his Catholic faith. P.T. was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
P.T. will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
P.T. was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Valentin "Tiny" Anaya and Luís Anaya, his sister, Lucaria Vega and his sister-in-law, Lena Anaya.
P.T. is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rosalie (Lesperance) Anaya, his devoted children, Joey Anaya and his wife, Bernice and Kristina Andazola, his loving grandchildren, Vanessa and Mariah Anaya and Drake Andazola. P.T. will also be greatly missed by his great-grandchildren, Analie Montoya and Amelia White, his brothers, Paul Anaya, Narciso Anaya, Gilbert Anaya and his wife, Pricilla, Leroy Anaya and his wife, Frances, his sisters, Annie Anaya and Debbie Paul and her husband, Charles, his brother-in law, Carlos Vega, sister-in-law, Yvonne Anaya and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
A Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Daniels Family Funeral Services - Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield, Socorro. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. also at San Miguel Catholic Church with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers are Paul Anaya Jr., Enrique Vega, Manuel Anaya, Tony Griego, Abel Sedillo and Raymond Rosas. Honorary pallbearers are James Marta, Harold Lesperance, Lawrence Baca and Evangel Maldonado.
