Last Rites for Mrs. E. Quillin Were Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Edgar Quillin, 57, Greenville, were held Friday, Dec. 8, at the Warner Funeral chapel in Spencer and Friends church in Greenville with Chas. O. Whitley, D.D.
and the Rev. Albert Hurst, officiating.
Burial was in Liberty cemetery near Greenville.
Pallbearers were Howard Allgood, Galen McDanel, Ed Lundt, Quinton Jones, Farris Amis and Everett Amis
Mrs. Melvin Joenks was soloist singing "Have Thine Own Way Lord," and Abide With Me." Mrs. Lowell Lewis was organist.
Prudence Jane Quillin was born in Henry county, Mo., Feb. 21, 1904. She was the daughter of James Carey Collins and Mary Susan Shindler Collins.
On August 13, 1935, she was united in marriage with Edgar Wright Quillin. To this union one son was born and grew to manhood in this community. He is now in military service and located at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Quillin resided in Henry county, Mo., for a time. In 1936 they came to Clay county, la., and have resided in or near Greenville, where they have become well and favorably known.
It was near the midnight hour on Dec. 5, 1961, that death came unexpected. Her age was 57 years, 8 months and 14 days.
Mrs. Quillin was a devoted wife and mother. She was a good neighbor, always willing to help with a willing hand where ever needed. She took great pride in her beautiful flowers and the fruitful gardens that grew about the home. She likewise was much gifted in fancy work and used her needle with artistic skill.
She leaves by her passing her husband and her son, Edgar, jr., also two sons by a previous marriage, William Malone of Washington, D. C. and Harold Malone in Government service; one
grandson, Billie Malone, of Washington, D. C; a sister, Lavina Yewell of Clinton, Mo.; three brothers, Ira Collins and B. Collins, also of Clinton, Mo., and Edgar Collins of Loveland, Colo.
She will be greatly missed by these near relatives as well as by more distant relatives and friends who have known her and loved her.
