"Thanks to Marty & Ronda Crull, Bob French, Gary Clendenny, the late Edith Zimmerman and the late Gene Prosser for this information. The majority of the information is from actual cemetery readings. The remainder is from the collections of obituaries and the funeral records at Jersey County Historical Society, the old newspaper collection at the Jersey County Historical Society and microfilm newspapers from the Jerseyville Library, transcribed by for the most part by Grace Gettings and Marty Crull. Copying expenses and related costs for the project were from Ronda Crull and the Tri County Newsletter."

The birth information is almost certainly correct, however there is some ambiguity in the birth location of "Penns Neck".

There appears to be a large area of land along the old stage road - between Princeton & Trenton NJ. (near Buena Vista, NJ) There are references to Campbell's Tavern, of which there were at least two in NJ: 1) at Buena Vista area, and 2) further north - where George Washington visited.

Charles Muir Campbell filed an application to operate a Tavern / Inn - while living in NJ. It was assumed this was the area he was raised before attending school in Basking Ridge NJ and finally moving to Princeton NJ. Consequently, it is assumed that Tavern #1 near Buena Vista in "Penns Neck" was the area where CMC grew up.

However... just _east_ of Princeton is another small neighborhood called Penns Neck. It is quite close to the Raritan (sp?) canal, and just a few miles from where CMC later built his home & carriage factory near Mercer & Canal St in Princeton.

So... Agnes Schenck may have been born in Penns Neck area near Buena Vista, or... Penns Neck - on the east side of Princeton NJ. Some have the county as Mercer (suggesting Princeton area), and some have it as Middlesex county NJ. Further research is needed to confirm this.

I'm also trying to verify the sources for death & burial information for Agness (SCHENCK) CAMPBELL.

Family history indicates CMC & family were moving, or had recently moved, from Jerseyville, Jersey county, Illinois -> to three farms about a mile south of Pawnee, Macoupin county, Illinois. On one trip, Agness (sp? Agnes?) fell ill, died, and was buried somewhere in-between. Possible.

Largely due to the overall quality & specifics from WOC's Family Group Sheet - that is the sole basis of this entry. I nearly overlooked it - it was in some data that WOC sent me 8 years ago, yet it rarely appears online. WOC had the death date & location as 26 July 1852 in Jerseyville, Jersey county, Illinois, and the burial info as: July 1852 at Scenic Hill Cemetery, Grafton, Jersey county, Illinois. The family farms & lands were located 1 to 4 miles south of Jerseyville according to the sale information. Compare that with the location of Grafton NJ.

Obviously, more research is needed. Hopefully someone is more familiar with that area and can continue researching this. There are a fair number of CAMPBELL's buried in Scenic Hill Cemetery, so I hope this information proves accurate.
