William A.J. Albritton was born in GA, the son of Allen Albritton (17 Nov 1794 - 8 Dec 1861) of NC and Susannah Ford (17 Jun 1803 - 17 Oct 1867) of GA, who migrated with their family into Wilcox County, AL.

William was a musician who served in the CSA during the Civil War, enlisting in the 44th AL Inf. Reg., Co C.

William married Mary Elizabeth Skinner(23 Apr 1831 - 16 Apr 1915) of SC in 1845 in Wilcox Co., AL. She was the daughter of Ira Jan Skinner and Permelia Lamb Albritton.

William and Mary's children included:

1. Martha Ann Albritton (1847 - )

2. Permelia Ann Albritton (1851 - ) m. E.F. Griffin

3. George Washington Albritton (9 Mar 1853 - 1 Sep 1920). He moved to Ackerville, Wilcox Co., AL, where he later died.
