(To note: the name above on the census record is also written as "Wm".) He appears on this 1860 Census with his wife and 4 children as: Wm R [J.R.] (34); Susan (33); M.J. (8); J.W. (6); M.C. (4); W.H.E. (1).

James and Susan Albritton had 5 children total.

James R. Albritton served in the Civil War:
He enlisted at Vienna, Louisiana in Company A, 2nd Battalion Louisiana Heavy Artillery (Logan's Battalion) on 08 Dec 1863. He transferred to 25th Regiment Louisiana Infantry on 10 Feb 1864 by order of Lt. Gen. Kirby Smith. On 01 Sept 1864 , J. R. Albritton was transferred back to Company A of Logan's Battalion, Louisiana. He received Confederate Pension #5242, filed in 1899, from Navarro County, Texas.

James and Susan Albritton left Union Parish Louisiana during the winter of 1868-1869 and returned to their former home in Snow Hill, Wilcox County Alabama. They remained there until 1874, when migrated with James' brothers John T. and Allen K. Albritton to Navarro and Freeston County Texas.

James Albritton appears on the 1880 Census record in Enumeration District #53, Freestone County, Texas. He appears with his wife and 3 children as: James R (54); Susan (53); Martha C. (23); Henry (21); Ellie [Ella] (16).

James Albritton and his wife Susan appear on the 1900 Census in Justice Precinct 7, Clay County, Texas. They are living in the home of their daughter Mattie, with her husband and children. The record lists the family unit as: John T Clark (49); Martha C Clark (43); Shellie T Clark (15); William Clark (12); Susan Albritton (74); James R Albritton (73).

James Rountree "Jim" Albritton died on 21 June 1911 in Bellevue, Clay County, Texas, at the age of 84 years.
The death certificate is #12719, and the informant was his youngest daughter Ella (Albritton) Oliver. The certificate lists Jim's occupation as "Farmer". There are some discrepancies on the certificate to be noted:
- His middle name is incorrectly spelled mistakenly including a "d" in "Rountree". The correct spelling is "Rountree" (no "d"). Rountree is a family surname from his maternal side.
- The birth date on the D/C is incorrectly listed as Dec 22, 1826. He was born December 27th, 1826.
- The name of his father is incorrectly listed as "Richard Albritton". His father was Allen Albritton.

James Rountree Albritton is buried at Bazette Cemetery in Bazette, Navarro County, Texas, beside his wife "Susan" Susanah (Fowler) Albritton.
