Charles Edgar Moffett
Charles Edgar Moffett, 64, the son of Ernest Lee and Eva Coffrin Moffett, was born September 30, 1919, seven miles southeast of Memphis, Missouri, and passed from thislife on Wednesday, September 26, 1984, in Ft. Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
He married Edith M. Lancaster on October 20, 1939, in Memphis, Missouri. To this union two sons, Gary Dean and Terry Lee, were born.
Charles' survivors include his wife,Edith of the home; Two sons, Gary and wife Delores, of West Point, Iowa, and Terry and wife, Sue, of Montrose, Iowa; his parents, Ernie and Eva Moffett of Memphis, Missouri; a sister, Maxine and husband, John W. Adams of Memphis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Douglas Michel of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Richelle Lee of Prairie city, Iowa, Beth Suzanne of Montrose, Iowa; five nieces and one nephew; three aunts, one uncle; several cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Bobbie Lee, in May of 1983; and one nephew in 1960.
He served in the 8th Army Air Force as Flight Engineer, in the European Theater during World War II.
Charles, and his family, have made their home in Montrose,Iowa since 1968.
Services were conducted Saturday, September 29, 1984, at 11 a.m. in Barr Memorial Chapel in Ft. Madison, Iowa, with Reverend Kenneth Campbell, of Memphis, Missouri, officiating. Burial was in Montrose Cemetery. The American Flag, which draped the casket, was folded and presented to Mrs. Edith Moffett, by members of the Chapter Four Disabled American Veterans, with words of gratitude for Charles; service to his country. Body Bearers were Robert Berry, Steven Freel, Allen Holtkamp, Lloyd, Laverne (Stub), and Larry Holmes.
