Richard Abbott, 59, Dies
Lincoln Resident 40 Years; Spanish War Veteran
Richard Lewis Abbott, 59, Spanish-American war veteran and resident of Lincoln for 40 years, died at his home, 847 No. 26th, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Abbott came to Lincoln in 1896 from Mansfield, Ill., his birth place , and in 1897 enlisted in the Spanish-American war with Company D, First Nebraska regiment, serving in the Phillipines until January, 1899, when he returned due to sickness. He was employed as a draper with Hardy Furniture company and Rudge Y Guenzel's in Lincoln and later in Casper, Wyo.
Mr. Abbott was a member of the Spanish-American war veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, East Lincoln Lodge No. 210, A. F. & A. M. and Royal Arch Masons. He was also a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity.
He is survived by a son, Arthur L., U. S. navy radio operator at Dahlgren, Va., who is home on leave; a daughter, Dorothy May at home; mother, Mrs. M. A. Abbott of Lincoln; two sisters, Mrs. Robert O. Bartlett of York and Lulu F. Abbott at home. The body is at Roberts.

Abbott Funeral Set
Funeral services for Richard Lewis Abbott will be held next Monday, Sept. 7, at 2 o'clock at Holy Trinity church, Rev. H. H. Marsden officiating. East Lincoln lodge No. 210, A. F. & A. M. , will conduct Masonic rites at the grave in Lincoln Memorial Park.
